Ginny's Weekly Photos

Each week I've taken a picture of Ginny with her bear to see how big she's getting....

2 days old

Just home from the hospital! Ginny's first car ride home from Tacoma General went very smoothly, and it was wonderful to be home and show her around her new digs! Grandma Ann and Grandpa Marc arrived from Alaska just 6 hrs after she was born, so they helped us bring her home.

Ginny's first weekend home was Easter Sunday. What a special way to celebrate a holiday for new life. Her first Easter basket had an adorable little garden toy with a brocoli, carrot, lettuce and a mouse. Samson came home from staying with the Rau's with a pink and purple bandana that said "It's a girl!" and she had her own easter egg hunt with lots of doggie treats.

We hosted our first Wednesday Night Dinner with Ginny in tow- we made BLTs (easy!) and Ginny got to meet all our friends. This was a big week of "firsts"- first bath, first walk, and her newborn pictures too!

This was our first week home alone with Ginny- Todd stayed home from work so we could get into the groove. We celebrated Mother's Day with a fire in the back yard and a picnic of fried chicken and coleslaw. Ginny had her first trip to the store- to the nursery to pick out flowers for our barrels by the front door. She slept in the Ergo Baby the whole time.

Todd went back to work this week, so we had our first week at home alone together. We spent lots of time in the hammock and playing in the yard. Ginny also rode the ferry to Seattle for the first time- mom had a dinner for Jessica's bachelorette party to go to, so the whole family headed into the city.

Cousin Leigh visited this week and we got to spend the afternoon together. Ginny watched a Yankees game with her dad, and spend some time in her swing, which she loves.

Ginny went to her first party- a Memorial Day BBQ at Zach and McCall's. She mostly hung out in the carrier and snoozed on Dad's chest. He managed to even play a little beer pong while she napped in the carrier!

This week we ventured out disc golfing and fishing with dad. On Saturday night we headed over to Kevin & Angie's for an outdoor movie projected on the side of their house (Oceans Eleven- always good!).

Another busy week full of walks and time in the yard at home, Ginny, Todd and I also met my co-workers for lunch at Happy Teriyaki for a get-together to meet Ginny for the first time.

This picture was taken at Great-grandma and Great-grandpa Flick's house in Paradise Valley. We were on the road to Billing's for Jessica and Travis's wedding this week. Ginny also got to meet her Great-grandma M.O.M and the Albistons. Ginny was a first class little traveler!

This week Ginny's picture was taken in Alaska at Grandma & Grandpa Lee's house! She and I headed north for a visit over 4th of July since Todd was working pretty much around the clock at the shipyard. This bear is actually Paddy's, but he let us borrow it for the picture. Ginny rolled over from front to back for the first time this week.

Another picture taken in AK- we spent lots of time with Aunt Jamie and Paddy and Uncle Mitch and we were waiting every day to meet the new baby! We thought a couple of times that Jamie was going into labor, but Sarah didn't arrive until a week after Ginny and I went home.

Ginny loves to spend time on her jungle kick mat- particular favorites are the butterflies and musical zebra. I went back to work, and we are getting into the groove of our new schedule (Todd home in the morning, me home for the evenings).

This week Ginny started to SQUEAL!!! And there's lots to be excited about because she got a new cousin- Sarah May Miller! Ginny also loves to sit in her bumbo on the counter while we work in the kitchen.

Ginny's becoming so much more coordinated and loves to grab and grasp. Her favorite thing to grab? Dad's beard! This week we spent time walking at the marina and eating dinner at Fritz's Fry House. Ginny got to meet Jared and we had brunch on Bainbridge Island.

Ginny discovered her feet! They are her new favorite toy and she loves to reach for them all the time, especially when her diaper is being changed. This weekend we spent time in the garage working on the boat and putting on layers of epoxy.

This weekend we took Ginny to her Farm Kitchen Breakfast for a delicious breakfast with Nick & Jennine. We wandered through the flower gardens and soaked up the sun on the farm.

Ginny got to play with her Jenny Jumper for the first time and she loves it! Another favorite activity is to sit on in the bumbo and pull all of the spoons and utensils out of the holder and throw them all on the floor!

Uncle John came to town this week and we had a great time with him. We spent time at the marina and cooked together and played Sequence. John brought a special gift for Ginny; a cross from Jerusalem and a rosary from Medjugorje.

This weekend was busy! Aunt Karen stayed for a night on her way to a bike race, and then Brian and Piper and Coryn visited from Richmond. It was great to spend time with our family and friends! We also had dinner with our friends from Bradley class and it was amazing how big the babies have gotten.

Grandma Ann visited for Labor Day weekend. We went to the Farm Kitchen Breakfast on Saturday, and then had fun at the Blackberry Festival at the waterfront in Bremerton- we even ate "Blackberry slugs" which were yummy donuts filled with blackberry jam.

We've been spending lots of afternoons at Lion's Field Park in East Bremerton. Todd fishes out in the water and we like to walk laps around the path. It's fun to go in the evening at watch the softball games with the big lights on the field.

This weekend we headed down to Kitsap Lake to soak up some sun. Dad fished off the pier- and caught lots and lots of bass, but none bigger than 4 inches :) and Ginny and Barb played in the sun and watched the boats zip past and the little kids play in the water.

We picked huckleberries from the bush in our yard this week and made scones with Uncle John's recipe from the Haire family cookbook. We love having family recipes to use! Ginny was bundled up in the Moby wrap so she can peer out at all the action- her favorite.

It's starting to feel like fall here, so we've been bundling Ginny up for our walks. We just closed on our new house so we've been spending lots of time on Marine Drive, and diving into the remodel in the basement.

Todd got a huge haircut this week- he cut off about 4 inches of hair and shaved his mountain man beard. When he got finished, Ginny just kept touching his face and studying him. She will miss being able to hold herself upright by grabbing onto his beard :)

Ginny applied for her passport this week! We want to take her up to Vancouver and Whistler this winter, and she needs legal documentation, so we took some of the cutest passport pictures you can imagine and filled out lots of paperwork, and off we go!

We are off to Iowa! We'll be spending Halloween with Great-grandma Millie and staying with Rich & Nancy. Ginny's little red hair and love of splashing in the water made her Little Mermaid costume seem like a perfect fit. She was in a costume contest at the party at Risen Son and won 2nd place!

Dad headed back home after his trip with us to Iowa, and we snuck in a little disc golf in the afternoon. Ginny has her own mini-discs from her dad, I bet she'll be playing as soon as she can walk.

Ginny's first Thanksgiving! We had dinner at Brian's house, and had a fabulous meal. Ginny tried cranberries (yum!) and mashed potatoes (surprisingly, she hated those). We have a lot to be thankful for this year!

Ginny is learning to fed herself, and she LOVES to eat little crackers and cereals that she can pick up and put in her mouth. One of her favorite places to play is the kitchen- she likes to pull out all the tupperware and mixing bowl and throw them around on the floor while mom cooks dinner.

We took Ginny out on our annual Christmas Tree hunt in Quilcene and she got to play in snow for the first time! We found a perfect tree, and spent the rest of weekend decorating the house and trimming the tree. Christmas season is here!

Todd had to head to Virginia for work, so Grandpa Marc came for a week to help out watching Ginny in the morning and do some work on the new house. He got to know all Ginny's little habits and routines and they were good buddies by the end of the visit. Thanks Grandpa Marc!
